Beijing is the capital city of China, one of the most beautiful countries in the known universe. A magical mixture of tradition intertwined with the modern, in a culture that can be traced back 3,000 years. There are hundreds of reasons to visit Beijing, but top of the list would be to see the ‘Temple of Heaven’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site described as ‘a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design’. Other places of interest are the Great Wall (the longest man-made structure in the world) and Summer Palace - a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces, to name but a few.
But by far, the best reason to go to Beijing is not just because it’s cool, interesting, old and beautiful. But to meet the people, receive the smiles and enjoy the authentic Chinese cuisine. Before you ask yourself ‘why should I go to Beijing?’ You might want to ask yourself ‘why do so many travellers keep coming back?’
